On loan and collaborating with major gallery entities, the challenging exhibition project will present, in works by artists from the 19th century to the present, a transforming view of the element that symbolically represents the unconscious. Water, as a liquid, variable, inflammatory and resurfacing element, convenes with the deep-unconscious components of the psyche, simultaneously devolving the feminine aspect, and, while often threatening it, making life on our land dependent on the base. In thematic blocks, works by classical landscapers (Piepenhagen, Chittusi, Radimský, Slavíček), symbolists (Panuška, Knüpfer, Pirner, Preisler), authors of the avant-garde and classical moderns (Špála, Čapek, Muzika, Procházka, Černý, Šlenger) and contemporary artists ranging from the oldest to the younger generation (Sopko, Gebauer, Kučerová, Karlíková, Klimeš, Ranný, Blabolilová, Moucha, Trabura, Pastrňák, Faltus, Frank, Hábl, Šejn, Šubrtová, Polcar, Holcová, Klimentová, Maleček, Véla, Maupicová, Turner), applying to a water theme from different points of view (elemental, symbol, part of the landscape, livelihood…). We are witnessing a transformation in the reflection of the water element, with fears of its unfettered nature in contemporary art replaced by fears for itself. The exhibition will be accompanied by expert lectures, going beyond the art theme into the fields of natural science, ecology and the humanities.
