Coexistence of species in the plant and animal kingdom, interdisciplinary cooperation between humans and non-humans, relationships and contexts in the landscape. These are just some of the topics presented by the exhibition project Symbiosis in the Critics' Gallery. The group exhibition of authorship across the spectrum of expressive means is created under the auspices of the Artbiom association, whose activity is based on the presentation of the entire range of cultural expressions on the Czech art scene dedicated to environmental issues, through the online database Artbiom.cz.
The main curator of the exhibition, Tereza Nováková, starts from the idea of intertwined ties in the art world, which is centered around our online database, in order to try to present this intricate network in an exhibition project, which itself aims to build its own environment through individual works, in which then creates new bonds and relationships.
The cooperation format is based on the confrontation of works by established authors and beginning creators, works represented in our database and those newly created. The advantage of such an open format of the exhibition is, among other things, the new contextualization of individual works. The exhibition thus reflects various forms of functional relationships, ways of creating new entities that create webs that are completely connected, respect each other or are parasitic on each other. This coexistence, not always equally advantageous for all involved, reflects the attitude of us humans towards planet Earth. The exhibition emphasizes the way in which we cooperate with nature and non-nature, in which we examine the phenomena that shape human behavior, including mere being.
