Karel Hynek Macha (1810–1836) is the first and irreplaceable representative of Romanticism, a poet who, although he lived only 26 years, has elevated Czech poetry to the world level by his work. The exhibition, organized on the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the birth of Karel Hynek Mácha, will offer visitors different reflections of Máchas literary work, from Romanticism through Realism, Surrealism to the present. It will also focus on romantic tendencies in the visual arts in general. The exhibition will be divided into three thematic areas devoted to love, death and landscape / pilgrimage. Among the exhibitors will be authors Václav Hejna, Adolf Kosárek, Bohdan Lacina, Antonín Mánes, Josef Mánes, Josef V. Myslbek, Pavel Nešleha, Jan Preisler, Toyen, Jindřich Štyrský, Josef Hnízdil, Václav Jirásek, Ivan Ouhel, František Skála or Miloš Šejn.
Along with the above-mentioned exhibition, illustrations of Máchas literary works from the collections of the Litoměřice Gallery will be presented as part of the Minigaleria series, with authors Václav Hejna, František Kobliha, Jan Konůpek and Zdeněk Sklenář.
