curator: Vjera Borozan
architect: Richard Loskot
In the GMU Space, Miloš Šejn presents a selection of more than two dozen works from his life's work, from works from the late 1960s to contemporary videos and two site-specific installations created directly for the Hradec Králové Gallery. The link and the unifying thematic line, to which the name of the exhibition also refers, is the water element. It appears here in various forms and states and allows you to compare the wide range of approaches that the author refers to water, and therefore the landscape. The moving painting is highly represented at the exhibition, the installation of which, in collaboration with Miloš Šejn, was considered by the artist Richard Loskot in the role of the exhibition's architect. In the case of two key works FVNGVS (1994) and GRAND G / LVNA (2012), it is a reconstruction of the original way of their presentation.
Miloš Šejn's work is still relevant in many respects. At the present time, when the field of art is again dominated by environmental themes, with which the author's works have been associated for several decades, his work is experiencing a "discursive boom". However, in addition to the environmental aspect, the exhibition in the Hradec Králové Gallery also focuses on other levels of the artist's work. It examines its deeper interpretive layers and emphasizes other types of connections and contexts. He tries, like the author himself, to oscillate between a rational, distant approach and its complementary opposite, grasping reality without distance - in a bodily, performative, non-separating way.
